This new video cloning tool almost helped real estate scammers in South Florida swindle buyers out 
of $52,000 if it were not for the fast thinking title search personnel. There is a new tool of AI 
generated video cloning that the scammers tried to present as proof of identification since they 
would not be present at to the closing. They might have gotten away with it too if it were not for a 
fast thinking lady company.  

As a real estate professional committed to protecting my clients, it's crucial to share the details of this scam and offer guidance on how to avoid falling prey to similar tactics. Most of the time when this type of scam occurs, it is on vacant property as opposed to single family dwelling. If you are looking at property, keep your guard up. 

1) If it is a good deal, treat that as a red flag.

2) Have your agent get a sttement from the the listing agent to confirm that they know the seller and have met the seller in person. If they have not, you may really be careful before going forward.  

3) Have your buyers agent show you ID from the seller and confirm that the residence matches the tax records. If the owner is an LLC get your aget to confirm with the title company what they have done to confirm ownership and signature authority for the sale. 

4) Always buy title insurance better yet have your agent negotiate with the seller to pay for the title insurance . If the worst happened and you got all the way through closing then this would help make reimburse you.  

5) Property prices have gone up alot these last few years. If you own vacant property, you might want to check with you title policy and see how much you are covered for in case you were to get scammed and they got away with it. 

6) There are a number of free services that allow you to video clone yourself for free. From what I understand this is a really bad idea because hackers can get the metadate and clone you again. Somebody with a video clone of you could bring total chaos into your life after stealing your identity. So don't do it.
